Mainly MIG welding, must be able to get certified. Mostly steel and some aluminum. Must be able to read blueprints.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Fits and welds fabricated metal parts to produce standard
products. Is developing full understanding of welding procedures regarding electrode size,
current, arc length and voltage, travel speed and electrode angle. Can set up and adjust
welding equipment accordingly. Works with engineering drawings. Other duties as required.
SKILLS REQUIRED: Prefer experience in MIG welding and machine setup for light gauge
metals (16 gauge to ¼ “). Knowledge of reading and understanding blueprints along with the
ability to convert this knowledge to obtain an efficient product. Requires the use of addition,
subtraction, multiplication, decimals and fractions. Use of standard measuring instruments
normally required to set angles and dimensions within stated welding tolerances. Requires
some judgment to comply with instructions, follow prescribed methods and make minor
decisions as to setups, operations and processes. Just be efficient in use of forklift and
overhead cranes.
EFFORT: Moderate physical exertion requiring a continuity of effort working with average
weight materials and tools, intermittent handling of fairly heavy materials, machine parts and
tools. May involve difficult work positions for brief periods. Maneuvering up to 75 pounds in
weight could be required.
RESPONSIBILITY: Must follow established safety regulations to prevent injury to self and
others. Resulting injuries could cause lost time accidents. Individual must furnish all hand tools
required to do the job, i.e. sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.
